What kinds of caffeinated foods/beverages can mormons have?
Question by Christine: What kinds of caffeinated foods/beverages can mormons have?
I have heard rules against coffee and tea, but I have not heard any rules against soda, chocolate, etc. That seems a little hypocritical, if you ask me. So I am here to ask, what are the exact rules regarding caffeine in the mormon religion? And if certain foods are accepted with caffeine in them (such as soda), why is this acceptable?

In terms of food and drink, this is what Mormons are absolutely not suppose to have:
coffee (of any kind), non herbal tea, illegal drugs, alcohol (cooking with it is ok) and tobacco
That’s about all that is totally off limits.
Anyone else that says otherwise doesnt know what they are talking about.
It isnt about the caffeine. There was modern day revelation that put these specific items on the do not partake of list. Why these exact items and not others that might be more harmful or just as? I dont know. Frankly, I dont care.
It seems fairly obvious why alcohol, tobacco, drugs and coffee are on the list because they are highly addictive. Non herbal tea does have some bad qualities, but it doesnt seem as bad as the others.
The main purpose of the Word of Wisdom is to create guidelines to keep a person healthy and away from addictions. There are other more gray areas like eating red meat sparingly, everything in moderation, getting plenty of sleep and exercise.
I think those specifics are banned because it is just better and easier to just stay completely away from them because of how addicting it can become.
Too much caffeine is bad for you. Too much sugar is bad for you. Too much salt is bad for you, but these things arent banned. They are just taught to consume in moderation. Alcohol, coffee, non herbal tea, tobacco and illegal drugs are specifically banned. Using them will keep you out of the temple.

It is NOT church doctrine that Mormons cant drink caffeine. You can keep telling Mormons what they believe but you will continue to be WRONG and sound like a total idiot telling other people that you know more than them about their own religion.

Do you get how obnoxious you sound everytime you tell Mormons what they believe? You also sound a bit obsessive over something you dont even believe or are a part of. I really do both laugh at and feel sorry for people like you.
