How to deal with a family member who’s addicted to gambling?
Question by here i lie on my own separ8 sky: How to deal with a family member who’s addicted to gambling?
My uncle is addicted to gambling and he has called many times to my family and my dad for money. He says he’s in trouble, not having food or shelter, and my dad has sent him money to “help.” But the thing is, my dad doesn’t get along with him. Just the other day my uncle called from out-of-state for the first time in years saying he needs help (not in gambling help, but help in basic necessities). My dad sent him several hundreds about 2 weeks ago, and yesterday he needed money again. My dad scolded him and he kept receiving calls on his cell at work which he turned off. Since my dad’s the eldest, he is like the head of our family. He said he won’t help him again ever. Even he had to bail him out when his boss in CA called my dad in CO saying his brother stole from his business. Before he and his gf showed up with a new truck/motorcycle, but these all disappeared.
What would you do if you were in a situation like this? My dad could get him help, but his brother lives and travels without a word to any of us. My dad’s not a Christian.

How is your dad supposed to get him help? Unfortunately he has to want help before anyone can help him. The best thing your dad can do is to never give him money again… even if he is homeless and has no food.
