Could this be a repressed memory? Serious answers only please?
Question by Julie: Could this be a repressed memory? Serious answers only please?
Well, I guess it could start with the fact that my step dad is a drug addict. Apparently, I show many symptoms of a repressed memory.
When I was younger, maybe around 10-12, I was in the bath tub when my stepdad walks in, “he had to pee”. Anyways, I covered myself up, and he started yelling at me to uncover myself…I wouldn’t..so then he forced my arms away from my body, I tried to fight back and cover myself, and it’s completely blank after that.
There have been other times where he’s made comments about me eating a lollipop and saying “I’d give good head”
Now here are the “symptoms” that some people tell me might be a repressed memory.
I don’t remember a time where I didn’t know about sex.
I’m completely uncomfortable around him, I won’t wear any revealing clothing or eat something that he can take as “sexy” around him.
I’m overly obsessive about my body
If I see a movie scene or something about rape/molestation I cry very hard, uncontrollably.
I’ve had a dream recently of where he raped me in the bathroom…
The thought of sex, tampons, fingering, anything like that makes me tense up horribly and cry..I have no reason for that…
Theres more, but this is a general idea…so..please answer seriously. And please dont recommend a psychologist..I’m still in high school so I can’t really talk to anyone without starting a whole big commotion if it’s nothing.
NikilovesKiki…
I talked to my mom, she’s no help. She stood up for him..

It sounds like it, but what you do remember is serious. Definatly tell somebody if you already haven’t. It could be a repressed memory, or maybe you got knocked out in the bathroom that time, and your mind is just trying to fill in the blanks. But tell somebody about all of this!
