I have heard that impatient rehab centers encourage addicts not to engage in serious relationships after rehab and encourage them to break ties with the things that lead you to use like stress from a relationship etc. well i am having an extreme anxiety attack because my fiance who i plan to marry in june is going to a ninety day rehab program as a condition of his probation for continuing to smoke weed instead of doing jail time. we have been together four years and have two kids. is it true that rehab encourages addicts to not be in serious relationships?

Chill ! Your fiance’ is trying to get help with something that will one day cause him to lose you. He knows this and he wants more for his life. They may encourage him to break away from unhealthy relationships, or unhappy ones for obvious reasons. If you are in a happy relationship, or at least one that is not miserable it’s not likely that that will happen. As far as panic attacks, don’t let yourself go there! Be optimistic and supportive of your husband’s rehab. Good luck to him and to you and your family !
