Addicted to drinking water?
Question by Kristen W: Addicted to drinking water?
My boyfriend drinks way more water than what is necessary – he drinks nearly 4 gallons each day. From what I have read, this may be dangerous, although his doctor says not to worry. This “addiction” is preventing him from sleeping through the night, which in turn negatively affects his waking hours. Has any one out there dealt with this issue? Any recommendations on how to get this under control?

Diabetes insipidus (DI) is a disease characterized by excretion of large amounts of severely diluted urine, which cannot be reduced when fluid intake is reduced. It denotes inability of the kidney to concentrate urine. DI is caused by a deficiency of antidiuretic hormone (ADH), or by an insensitivity of the kidneys to that hormone.
This is not related to the “Sugar diabetes”.A doctor should check him out.
Good luck
